He claimed he never drank or used drugs

So why would a person die at age 67? I bet he lied

reply

If you look at the more recent photos compared to the earlier ones he went from being a thin guy to a very heavy guy. If you are always thin and then put on a lot of extra weight when you get into your 60's you are putting a lot more stress on your heart than if you were heavy when you were younger and then lost weight or if you just stayed thin your entire life. So having him die at 67 when the average age of death for someone born when he was is about 72 is not that surprising giving he starting getting fat.

reply

oh ok, that makes sense. Thanks. I guess you are a doctor

reply

You think people that don't drink don't die?

reply

I didn't think a person could die at 67 if they didn't drink or use drugs

reply

Are you for real

reply

I meant in their sleep the way he died. Obviously people die at all ages for many reasons, but his death seemed odd the way it just happened

reply

Arr got ya I didn't know he died in his sleep not read about it yet👍

reply

I would say dying in your sleep is not that odd. Your other options are being wide awake and dying which would usually be because of a heart attack, aneurysm, stroke or accident. Or being awake on your death bed from some illness and slipping away.

We don't know if he had any chronic illnesses which would have likely shortened his life. At his age there are often chronic illnesses that wouldn't be apparent from simply looking at him. I don't really see anything odd about how he passed. If you want the percents about 1 in 8 people will die in their sleep. So while it was not the most likely way to die it isn't uncommon.

Media reports stated his girlfriend was sleeping next to him. I guess she could not wake him.up, and knew something was wrong. It is possible he had health conditions. I only knew him from interviews, I never saw his films. I might now. I hope it was not foul play.

reply

You never saw a film with Ray Liotta? Thats even more odd than passing in your sleep peacefully at age age 67

reply

Nope I never have, but will someday.

reply

Was gonna say the same.

reply

In this thread we learn that only people who use drugs die.

reply

lolll

reply

I'm guessing he smoked.

reply

Smoking makes you cough but does that really cause death?

reply

Yes if you smoke cigarettes for a lengthy period of time it could lead to certain illnesses, cancers, or heart problems. I had an Uncle who died from a heart attack and smoking was one of the factors that likely played a role in that.

reply

Thanks, sorry for your loss

reply

He was a heavy smoker for almost all of his adult life. He even did an advertisement promoting a product that apparently helped him quit.

reply

I'm watching him smoke a cigarette in Cop Land right now... my God you're right Millsey! Unless it's a plot hole?

reply

Don't get him going on the plotholes again, it's taken 6 shrinks a lobotomy and an exorcism to get him away from finding those in everything that's not the dictionary.

reply

My bad

Before someone I knew who died around Liota's age died, he told us to stay away from the sun, don't smoke, or eat like a pig. If you do those three things moderate drinking and even some drug use won't kill you.
Staying away from smoke/sun eliminates the cancer threat to a large extent and not burdening an overweight body that strains your heart, helps to. That and some exercise and luck and you should have a healthy 70+.

I know very, very few people that smoke that way anymore. People look at you like your nuts and it's also so expensive now.
