I could do without the Sex Addict tag but I hope what they are saying is true.

After splitting twice, “The X Files” hunk David Duchovny and estranged wife Téa Leoni are getting back together – again!
Sources tell The National ENQUIRER that the two are working hard to mend their shattered marriage – and they recently shared a romantic beach day in Malibu. “David and Téa have talked about divorce forever, but they never got around to filing papers,” said a friend.
“Now they’re enjoying each other’s company so much that they’ve abandoned the idea of divorce, and their kids couldn’t be happier.”
The couple wed in May 1997, and the “Deep Impact” actress gave birth to their daughter, Madelaine, in April 1999. Their son, Kyd, was born in June 2002.
But their happiness was shattered in August 2008 when David announced that he’d checked himself into a rehab facility for sex addiction.
At the time, the couple said they had already been separated for months.
David, 53, and Téa, 48, managed to iron out their differences, but split up again in 2011. A year later the actor announced they were still married, but separated.
But recently the two have shared intimate dinners and lots of one-on-one time, revealed the source. “The sex addiction period was really difficult,” added the friend. “Most other Hollywood couples would have called it a day and brought in the divorce lawyers, but not David and Téa.
“They want to make it work.”
David recently wrapped up the Showtime series “Californication” after seven seasons, and is now filming the NBC cop drama “Aquarius” where he hunts Charles Manson.
Meanwhile, Téa plays the U.S. Secretary of State in the upcoming CBS drama series, “Madam Secretary.” The source added: “The kids still hold out hope their parents will get back together and start living in the same house again.
“In the meantime, everyone seems happy.”

I'm confused, does "sex addiction" imply he was cheating on her, or that he just really likes sex with her a lot? Probably a dumb question but if it's the ladder then how exactly does one rehabilitate from that? If I were married to Tea I'd probably be 'addicted' to sex as well.

And if it's the former, then maybe adulterer or cheater/cheating should be mentioned somewhere.

There was never any women that came forward to say he cheated on her. I don't know. I don't think he did but who knows. All the rest of the guys at that time were ousted by ton's of ladies. Some had said it was Tea that was cheating with Billy Bob Thornton but I don't think that was true either. To tell the truth and this is only my take on things it seems to me as though he is still in love with Tea. They did try to make it work out but it didn't. They are both still friendly and come together as a family even though the divorce is final now. They both seem to be in a good place with one another. If there was actually cheating involved I don't think they would be on such good terms. At the time they said it was a porn addiction. I guess its really no ones business but theirs.

I think they are talking about his character on californication who is a sex addict.

No they were talking about David not Hank.

There's a little bit of Hank in David, I think. They both love porn and sex.

Yes, and they are both smart and witty. Although I never thought of Hank as a sex addict. He loved and respected women but he only had one love and that was Karen. I also feel the same about David. Tea was his true love and I don't believe he cheated on her.

Fair points. But I also wonder how much of Mulder is in David. I remember David saying how he was very skeptical of paranormal claims.

I think its a tabloid thing since his character is a sex addict so they sort if couple them together.
