The movie of his with a scene where he's spooning spaghetti noodle (I think) into a pot using a tennis racket or something similar? ....it's black and white if that helps.

That would be the legendary movie, The Apartment. In the scene, he's making spaghetti with meatballs for him and Fran and he uses the tennis racquet to strain the spaghetti! There's quite a sweet scene later on in the movie where he is cleaning up and finds a strand of spaghetti still on the racquet.
