Did anyone else hate 'Save the Tiger'?

Hi Everybody,

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I really hated this film. The only part I liked was the full-body shot when Harry was walking into the shower. Plus, some of it was just odd and bizarre. I just didn't like this film at all. To me, it didn't live up to it's talk. I'm a big fan of Jack's, but I would've rather seen Jack win a Best Actor Oscar for "Some Like It Hot" and/or "The China Syndrome".

Yeah it's not my favourite either. I thought he deserved his Oscar very much and I'm always so happy for him when I watch the clip of him winning it. I could follow the plot just fine but you're right. Some of the scenes were very odd and the end was puzzling. I didn't hate the film, it's not my favourite but his performance alone still deserved the Oscar!

Save the Tiger was a very, very good movie for its time but unfortunately it did not date well. The movie hit a nerve about the post WWII survivor's guilt while at the same time there was a cultural revolution in full swing. It was a heavy movie for its time but almost un-watchable nowadays.

still enjoy watching it to see Jack Lemmon's grand Academy Award performance,,he deserved Best Actor

I re-watched SAVE THE TIGER recently, and was again impressed with the film and Lemmon's riveting performance. I don't think it was supposed to be a hit [and it wasn't a hit], but a personal film from its director.

I agree Lemmon was a revelation and so glad he won the BEST ACTOR OSCAR,,Mr Gilford was great in it as well,,,it is a somber movie not like one of the twilight film,,based on a kids soap opera,,so the girls can go wild,,,it is a searing drama not something you go out for fun,,,,they call them art house movies not many are blockbusters but many do win Oscars
