Can some kind soul refresh me on "Pacific Heights?" I seem to remember & believe it was never divulged why Keaton picked them & their house to harass & destroy. Am I mistaken?
shareIt never said why he picked them, but it was probably just unlucky timing on their part, trying to rent out an apartment and happened to cross paths with a con man. That was just what Keaton's character did; that was his running scam. That's why those two thugs beat him up in the very beginning of the movie - they were hired by the real Hayes, whose identity and apartment had been taken by Danforth (Keaton's character's real name) in the same manor. The fact that they owned a place in Pacific Heights was enough for him to know that they had the financial security he was looking for.
