Why didn't she turn up to get her Oscar?

She was in London filming 'There's a Girl in my Soup'. She was also sure she wouldn't win, so that's probably why she didn't go back to Los Angeles for the ceremony.

She said she forgot to go. She didn't even know she won until the next morning when her agent called and told her. Otherwise she was oblivious.

It really isn't, it says so in her autobiography. However, I don't think actually forgot to go to the Oscars, rather she never planned on going so it slipped her mind what night it was even on. She did find out from her agent she won, though. She was convinced she'd lose, and since she was filming overseas, I'm guessing she just didn't feel like travelling back for the ceremony.

When I read the name of your post,"Why didn't she turn up to get her Oscar?" I just knew when I clicked on it, it would say, what? her Oscar Mayer hotdog? I thought it would be a joke. lol

it's not like Goldieis the first actress to either not go to the oscars when they win or not want to go. when Joanne Woodward won 12 years earlier she didn't want to go inicially either and has said as much. and Patricia Neal was advised not to attend by her doctors as she was 8 months pregnant at the time of the April 1964 ceremony and they were scared that the hustle and bussel of the ceremony could cause her to go into premature labor. and have her daughter Ophelia before the babies lungs were mature enough to function on their own so she sent her friend french actress anabella to accept the award.
