I know he played the Commando in The Survivors with Robin Williams and he presented Robin with an award in 1993, (Cant remember what awards show though) but were the friends? Both of them are fan favorites on SNL and they seem to have hung out in the same circles.

shareWell, obviously, they knew each other professionally, but as far as "real life friends"? I don't recall either saying anything about the other?
I can easily imagine John being a fan of Robin, esp their early years, but no clue about the other way around.
Then again, I had no clue John and Kevin Spacey were friends from their early theatrical years until "Beyond the Sea", so anything is possible.
