can't believe he is playing OJ

he looks nothing like him
OJ, despite being charged with a viscous murder, murder back in the day was very handsome and had charisma
and that charisma would be vital in this movie because it got him off and made him a free man
Cuba is a good actor in his own right but is not right for this part

I can get past the COMPLETE lack of resemblance, but all I HEAR is Cuba Gooding Jr. I just can't get past both audio and visual being a miscast.

I guess I'm one of the few people who really enjoy Cuba Gooding Jr. as OJ. It's easy to get past physical appearance (just watch Fassbender as Steve Jobs), and I really enjoy the mannerisms Cuba shows in his performance.

I used to be addicted to the hokey pokey, but I turned myself around.

It's distracting to me too. It's important to show how big of a celebrity OJ was so you have to get someone who replicates his charisma as well as his hulking physical presence. Gooding has neither. Gooding is good at the whimpering side of OJ, which is important to show because OJ was also a huge coward, but the other things are distractingly lacking.

That said, I can't think of an alternative.

Idris Elba could do it providing he could do an American accent.

reply

Uhhhh...have you seen almost any movie or show Idris Elba has ever done? He uses an American accent in almost every role he's had. You know his name and that he's British, which a lot of people don't know because of how often he uses an American accent, but you don't know if he can do an American accent convincingly? Hmmm... That's strange of you, Michael.

I'm not really familiar with his other roles, I only he's most famous for Luther the TV series where he has a clear cockney accent, I think I've seen Pacific Rim and I can't remember the accent he had in that.
