Ah, so many qualifiers, so much effort to fine-tune and hair-split your objections to Fidel! It's simply how it comes across, along with this quote you conveniently left out: "The reason they're understandable is because he comes from a wealthy family who ran their own business..."
Why the need to mention his family being wealthy? You did feel the compulsion to incorporate that (and then ignore it.)
