I was in Vietnam from August 1968 to August 1969 serving on Swift Boats out of Da Nang and Chu Lai. Jane Fonda was one of my favorite actresses until she started the anti war stuff. We all knew the war wasn't popular but for those of us who had to fight the thing, it was tough watching your country and your favorite actress turn against you.
To this day, I will not watch anything with Jane Fonda in the cast.

She performed traitorous acts, and she should have been prosecuted for them. As a poster said above, he wouldn't ever see a movie of hers again. I agree, and will go one step further. No, actually she traveled to North Vietnam where she met with their soldiers, sang songs with them and posed for pictures. She herself was later quoted as saying this was "an unforgiveable mistake." The overwhelming majority of America was against the war, but the fact was that soldiers were being drafted with no choice in the matter and sent to fight a war they didn't want to be a part of. It's not hard to understand why many of those who had to live through that hell did, and still do, harbor some bitterness toward her. She knows how bad it looked, and has apologized.

And then vilifying their personal political beliefs on a message board which should be relating to their acting careers!
Answer - I don't think it's appropriate behaviour. She explained what was the intention, she's apologised repeatedly for the misjudgement and you really need to stop living in the past.
The rest of the world doesn't still give America a hard time for being so very wrong about going into Vietnam. We've moved on. I suggest you all do the same.

shareWell first off, I don't personally care how the rest of the world feels about America and its military actions, nobody here was even talking about that, and frankly I've got enough to deal with every day. Secondly, I wasn't vilifying anyone, I only said I can understand why some old-timers could harbor some bitter feelings toward her since they were in that sh***y situation that most Americans did not want to be a part of (as my first post stated), as that WAS the question presented when this thread was started. Lastly, you made a good point that IMDB is an entertainment website, even though you felt the need to get on a soapbox yourself to scorn America about wars and then say they all need to "move on." Well unfortunately entertainers often tend to stick their noses in politics, and that is going to affect how their fans feel about them. This whole situation way back then is part of what kept Fonda's name such a hot topic, on both sides, and of course people are going to talk about it.
