Most Overrated Director in Hollywood

Despite all the hosannas from the pandering critics and video essayists, he's really quite conventional. Him and Wes Anderson seem to get all the internet folk brown-nosing them.

Fight Club is popular, especially among teens, but the film isn't very good. Se7en is redundant. Benjamin Button was truly awful and his worst film. His last two films are just cliche and derivative formulaic popcorn junk.

Explicate. Otherwise you're just throwing out dull adjectives and labels. Back your *beep* up with examples

Like, disagreed.

His films are the farthest from cliche. He turns dark and suspenseful books into visual masterpieces. That's just my opinion.

While I agree Fincher's over-rated, he typically makes high quality films. BENJAMIN BUTTON, an awful movie, got nominated for a bunch of awards, and was truly a triumph of marketing. But that picture was also outside his wheelhouse.

My main problem is his rabid fan base. FIGHT CLUB and SEVEN were good movies, even if the former is wildly overrated. His best film to date is probably ZODIAC. I'll watch almost anything he makes.

Although I don't buy into the hype that some of his films receive, I think he's a fantastic director. Zodiac, the Social Network and Gone Girl are some of my favorite movies. This is just an opinion, however. Just like your post.

sorry which movies have you directed ? just another talentless pathetic troll who thinks the world owes him something, if you could just make your own movie the entire world would realise how amazing you are... loser

reply

Honestly, I think his choice to present fairly straightforward stories in an atmospheric, easy-to-understand (yet not without twists) manner makes his films energetic, and conventional, yes, but not without their own stylistic presentation.
Fincher at his best reminds me of Hitchcock at his best.. Real plain stories presented electrically.
And I don't think he's overrated, not by the fans. Maybe by the critics. But hey! I've loved a handful of his movies and still loathe "Panic Room" and "Benjamin Button". So there ya go! His good is awesome and entertaining, while the bad is cringeworthy, and hopefully people are smart enough to know to be skeptical of the work.

If Fincher is overrated what is Nolan, Tarantino and Spielberg?
