john candy, john goodman, john belushi, louie anderson, oliver hardy, fatty arbuckle, curly howard all revved up in a blender makes one chris farley.

reply

Respectively disagree. Except for Louie Anderson, the others were/are far better actors/comedians than Farley ever was.

reply

farley had great line delivery

CF may have been one of the lucky ones. He checked out when the world was a more chill place. Jihadis hasn't given The US government a rationale for creating The Security State, by mistaking a couple of commercial airplanes for fucking missiles, the worst thing happening internationally was Haiti having a meltdown and the inhabitants of the former Yugoslavia, and if one found something a comedian, celebrity, or journalist said objectionable, he simply didn't watch that person's show, read their column, or perhaps wrote on a op-ed griping about it, then moved on. There was no Twitter and no call for cancelling anyone for uttering wrong think

Farley would likely be exiled to Netflix or run out of the industry entirely, were he alive today

reply

YOUR BLOCK OF SHIT DOES NOT BELONG ON THIS THREAD.

reply

And yet I replied anyway

He probably would have had 1 or 2 more great films and a tv show which could've been crap or good for a couple seasons. But none of the snl comedians from his generation really had more than three great films. Sandler could be argued to have had 3 before they went mediocre and Mike Myers had a good run but became the joke.

reply

Sandler is superb in Uncut Gems. The tragedy of his career is similar to that of Eddie Murphy's. They both thrive under strong direction, and this is something they've received in far too few films
