Sittin here slack-jawed after a screening of Repo Man for about 30 people. Emilio Esteves was a great, selfless actor then, inhabiting a character that might have seemed inscrutable even to him. I wish we could all see him in something new.
shareI'll give you that he's selfless, because watching his movies it looks like he knows when to step back and let others shine.
But for me the nice thing about Emilio Estevez is that he always, especially in his earlier movies, looked like he loved what he was doing. It's fun watching him simply because it's always fun to watch people enjoy themselves.
I wouldn't translate that into him being a great actor, but certainly an amusing one and a very entertaining actor to watch.
