Agree, although I thought the BBC adaptation was far superior in just about every other way.
Scorseby in the books is described as being somewhere in his late 50s, which is much closer to Elliott's age at the time than Miranda's today. Elliott has a grizzled, world-weary persona which was perfect for the part and stole the film IMO.
