Kennedy Center Honors

I wonder why he has never received a Kennedy Center Honor. They state "The Kennedy Center Honors is an annual honor given to those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions to American culture." Can you imagine many actors that fit this better than Duvall? Few if any. I'm sure the KCH is apolitical, bureaucratic thing similar to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I hope they get this right soon and honor this man. Maybe this year!

filmfreak72, an incredibly good point you make! the fact that meryl streep was honored this month before robert duvall is a tragedy of acting justice. not that streep doesn't deserve it, but her life isn't in winter yet. i bring that point up because you mentioned in your OP "lifetime of contributions." i scrolled through duvall's filmography and it took me near forever to get to the bottom. duvall is the absolute best and is 80 years old, so now is the time.

another excellent point you make about the political nature of the award. if they overlook this man, it will be a horrible slight.

i have a similar beef with the u.s. postal service. various cartoon characters and other undeserving non-human entities have stamps dedicated to them, but not america's most decorated war veteran, audie murphy. sickening.

Robert Duvall is one of the world's greatest actors. He is also an open Christian. (gasp!) and a an Republican. 9 horrors-must be a Bush/Reagan worshiping fascist!). I am not surprised he has yet to receive any life-time achievement awards.

coop, yes, gasp and horrors that robert duvall belongs to those weirdo fringe extremist groups the Christians and the republicans! all sarcasm aside now, it's a sad day when a man with his body of work who is ALWAYS at the top of his game no matter his age is not recognized for it. i would love to know what person/group decides the inductees to the kennedy center honors.
