Was he snubbed at the Oscars for Get Low?
Would Robert Duvall have earned an Oscar-nomination as Best Actor for Get Low?

shareYes, he was snubbed.
shareIt's an excellent performance. I don't know if I'd say it was a "snub." There are only 5 slots. I would have nominated him over Jeff Bridges in "True Grit."
shareIt was right after watching Get Low and thinking over his work over the last 40 years that it struck me that I believe Robert Duvall may be the single greatest actor who ever lived.
What spun through my memory was, starting with The Godfather, The Godfather: Part II, Lonesome Dove, Days of Thunder (a superb and memorable characterization), Falling Down, Geronimo: An American Legend, A Family Thing, Deep Impact, A Civil Action, Assassination Tango, Open Range, Broken Trail, and now Get Low. The last four of those were following age 70, and they are some of his finest work.
Yeah he should have been nominated instead of eisenberg or franco.
shareI think the reason he was snubbed has to do with his political views. That's a shame too.
