Victim of liberal Hollywood

Robert Duvall is a great man. A good actor. He was also brought up to believe in Conservative values, making him proud to be American.

He speaks up about what he believes in, just the same as more left-wing actors such as Sean Penn have done.

Then lo and behold, the new, trendy elite of Tinseltown brand him as some sort of dinosaur. Various individuals on IMDB, as well, slam him for his patriotism.

I am not American. But if a British actor expressed his love for Queen and Country only to be shot down by Left Wing idiots then I wouldn't stand for that.

Duvall is a great actor. However Sean Penn has suffered far more attacks for speaking his mind than Duvall. The same applies to other left-wing artists.
The idea that there's a liberal consipracy in Hollywood is ridiculous;in fact it's a myth.
It's also ridiculous to imply that left-wing political beliefs are somehow un-patriotic.
Just one example-Bruce Springsteen. A great musician who has the courage to speak out against the shameful conservative policies which have condemned millions of people to a life of misery. Why does Springsteen care so much? Because he loves his country.

This crap has to end.

Duvall: probably conservative Republican = great artist.

Springsteen: liberal Democrat = great artist

John Wayne: far right Republican = great artist

John Garfield: liberal, possible Socialist = great artist

Sam Peckinpah: psychotic, paranoid nutcase = great artist

Robert Ryan: liberal Democrat = great artist

James Stewart: Republican = great artist

Sam Fuller: liberal Independent = great artist

Richard Wagner: fascist = great artist (okay..gotta swallow hard on this one...but a great artist)

Frick you all and your "politics." These are humans first, artists second and political bumperstickers last. Don't you get sick of chasing your own willies?

reply

Uh...yeah, but the point was about how role offers for conservative actors mysteriously start to vanish after their views become well-known, despite their being a "great artist."

reply

True. It's probably like being a homosexual in the Deep South... some people don't care, but a lot do...

Richard Wagner: fascist How was he a fascist? That is, seeing that he was working at least 60 years before fascism existed. The same goes for Neitzsche. Just because the Nazis took bits of these guys' ideas (and usually dumbed these bits down and warped their meaning in the process) doesnt mean they're Nazis.
