Anyone else think he's one of the greatest actors of all time?

He's at or near the top of my list of American actors, with an incredible ability to "become" his character on the screen (as opposed to dragging the same celebrity persona from movie to movie like so many film stars who pretend to be actors).

Duvall is also one of those rare actors who can make a bit role memorable (e.g. his part in Sling Blade or The Road) and make otherwise mediocre or terrible movies (e.g. The Light Ship) watchable.

I completely agree. One of the best, underrated actors out there. He continues to amaze me and never dissapoints me.

And I totally agree with the fact that even when he's in a movie for no more than 10 minutes, he's the most memorable part of that film. Truly a legend.

I just saw his amazing work in GET LOW, and yes, he's one of the greatest actors of his time.

Get Low is yet another example of a mediocre film that's elevated by Duvall's great acting.

Usually, if a film has a dull script, even good actors can't rescue it. Duvall is one of the few who can. Another actor who can do the same that comes to mind is John Hurt.

But, oh, Lonesome Dove! Gus McCrae is my hero.

I totally agree, too. He's been my favorite actor for many years. So much so that every dog I've ever owned has been named after a Duvall character. Boo was a beagle-mix, Gus was a fox terrier-mix, and Max was a German shepherd. Boo Radley, Gus McCrae, and Max Mercy.
And I, too will watch anything Duvall does!
