Opportunist? Absolutly, but he was not a nazi empath, no proof. All of it just comes from real bad timing during his promo for Snow White. He planned to sell Snow White to Germany, he even initiate a german dub. For selling it to Germany, he invited Leni Riefenstahl to his studio, a quite powerful german director. Unfortunately, this happened all around November 9 1938, the night, the Nazis started their open attacks against Jews. All other studios dropped Riefenstahl directly, but Disney really was in need of the dirty German money (the studio was until the 50s always at the brink of collapse). So he still showed Riefenstahl his studio, the movie etc. Because of this the rumors came up, but there is nothing which would proof it. Also other allegations couldnt be proven to be true as I am aware. Except that he was a child of his time, so was it totally normal to say the N-word without meaning it with bad intentions.
Could he be better? Sure, but nobody is perfect.
