Home Alone - I'll be home for Christmas

Is it true that the movie "I'll be home for Christmas" was actually the initial script for Home Alone 3 with star Macualy Culkin. Apparently studio execs turned down the script as it differed from the usual Home Alone movie series formula.

As in the movie "I'll be home for Christmas" Kevin McAllister has to get home in time for Christmas to the rest of the McAllister clan .... Uncle Frank included. On his way he meets an oddball set of characters including some characters from the first two movies not to mentin Harry and Marv trying to get even with him.

Come to think of it, all that makes so much sense! And I could definitely see an older Kevin McAllister falling into the same Christmas "tradition". It could all just be a coincidence, but I hope that it is true! Hollywood was stupid to not have made that the Home Alone 3.
