Best dramatic work in CITIZEN BAINES television show
Fans and critics of James Cromwell, please check out on imdb what I feel is some of his best dramatic work, the largely forgotten, short-lived television series from the autumn of 2001, "CITIZEN BAINES".
James Cromwell portrays a three-term Washington State senator in D.C. who is stunned when Washington State voters vote him out of office. Unemployed and completely lost as to what to do next, the former senator returns to his magnificient mansion home in Seattle to figure out what to do next. Complicating his life are his three grown daughters who manage to contrive domestic problems of their own that force the ex-senator's intervention, whether they accept it or not.
The television series was probably a victim of its own ideals. It may have been too ambitious, too intellectual, too introspective and perhaps too depressing to watch the personal domestic problems of an unemployed ex-senator and those of his three, grown daughters. The television show lasted just over two months.
