damn scary in LA Confidential

This man played the farmer in babe, which he did as if he was made just for that role. But (from what I have seen) his best is in LA Confidential. He just gave me the chills; maybe BECAUSE I know him mostly as the friendly 'that' guy.

Great actor.

I absolutely agree.

His line, "Go back to Jersey, sonny. This is the city of the angels... and you haven't got any wings.", when he's watching that guy being tortured in the abandoned house, gave me the chills. The way he delivered it was just so damn brooding and dark.

I love this guy. He's one of the most underrated actors out there IMO.

The movie was great and so was he in it.

Yes. It's just so unnerving when a "good guy" actor plays a bad guy, and does it so well. James Cromwell in L.A. Confidential may be the best example of that. But I think Harrison Ford was also very good as the bad guy in What Lies Beneath.

Move along. Nothing to see here.

Yeah, same with Henry Fonda in Once Upon a Time in the West. It's so cool to see actors who are best known for playing likable good guys switch to a heavy. The entire cast of LA Confidential was fantastic--some of the best ensemble acting I've ever seen.

reply

Great example. I wish I had thought of it.

I just saw LA Confidential and I liked his performance, he seems like a good actor.

reply

Absolutely great performance in LA Confidential.
What a shame that he wasn't even nominated for it.
