Earliest Appearances

The t.v. appearances show him in a 1971 show. The bio for Cromwell indicates that he began acting at a later date. But I'm certain that I saw him in a minor role in an episode of Johnny Staccato that would have been filmed 15 years earlier. He was playing the role of a beat poet reading his poem in the background while Cassavettes carried on a conversation with another actor.

Does anyone know about this or where I might contact him to confirm that appearance?

I enjoyed him as Marcel, the French chauffeur in 'Murder By Death.' He was with Peter Falk again in 'The Cheap Detective' (1978). But that was just a small part as a Nazi. I don't know if James Cromwell drifted into TV movies for a time after that. But one I know that he did was as a vicar in 'A Christmas Without Snow' (1980).
