'SUNSET BOULEVARD' has been confirmed for Fall start date

It was announced yesterday that Glenn Close will reprise her Tony-winning role of 'Norma Desmond' this Fall in front of the cameras, as the movie-musical project has found it's director.

Rob Ashford, who is a Tony-wining choreographer, has been chosen to make his directorial debut for the movie version. The screenplay is to be written by Tom MacRae (Everybody's Talking About Jamie). Andrew Lloyd Webber is listed as one of the producers, and Paramount Studios is backing the project.

The film has been off and on for nearly two decades, since the original productions closed down across the globe in March, 1997. It had a successful Broadway revival in a limited run with Close in the Spring of 2017.

Over the years, such actresses as Streisand, Meryl Streep, Liza Minnelli and Madonna have been 'attached' to the movie project, according to interviews with Andrew Lloyd Webber.
