CONFESSION: I wish SERVING IN SILENCE had more kissing in it

I just got through watching her in the great television biopic, SERVING IN SILENCE (1995), a bit ago. It was the true story of a lesbian military nurse. Aside from the hairdo she donned for the part, I loved her in the role! It was a really uplifting, ironically joyful film – if you think about it. But it stirred a little controversy back during the time of release, for the kiss shared between herself and Judy Davis. Glenn said at the time of the kiss that it was a really moving thing for her, because for the span of 30 to 90 seconds, she really knew how it felt to be attracted to someone of her own gender.

Well, needless to say that the kiss was a big part of why I was interested in this film. However, as good as the film was overall, it does leave the romantic wanting more. Such is the type of films Julianne Moore has made where she plays someone loving a woman.

So far, I think a kiss is the furthest Glenn has gone with another woman on screen. And I say this not as someone pushing a political agenda or trying to be politically correct or something, because I hate that sort of thing – but just as someone who enjoys seeing romantic love between women on the screen. Who else would love to see Glenn play in a genuine romance movie with herself and another woman?

People say that Glenn has a masculinity about her, but actually she also has a deep running softness to her that I don't think is appreciated enough. That combination of toughness and softness makes her ideal for such a part, it would seem. So, how come actresses like Julianne Moore (In THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT, THE HOURS, and others) and Cate Blanchett (in the recent smash hit of 2015, CAROL) have played in those sorts of scenes, when Glenn has only barely touched them?

I generally like Glenn better than either of those actresses, and I just wonder if she has an aversion to playing in full-on love-scenes with women, or if she's just not offered the parts for whatever reason. Any ideas what it could be?

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!
