The Sunset Boulevard musical needs to be made into a movie for Glenn!
I don't know if Glenn is still busy with SUNSET BOULEVARD, but I assume she is. However, there's a bitter sweetness to her return as the character of Norma Desmond, which is the fact that news outlets are now comparing her performance now to the one that she did over 20 years ago. And when looking at images of her side-by-side from then to now, and when remembering the age the character's supposed to be, it becomes all too apparent what a missed opportunity it was 20 years ago for the bigwigs in the movie business to do a remake of Sunset Boulevard, and cast Glenn in the lead.

By that point in the 1990s, she was already well known for her ability to be theatrical – after all, she did play Cruella Deville in the 101 Dalmatians movie. With Glenn, there wouldn't be a problem having the same level of gravitas on the stage as she did on the screen, because I think she can transition from one medium to the other with relative ease.
So, while I'm happy that she took on the role of Norma Desmond again, it does seem like a missed opportunity once more, that somebody isn't snagging her up while we still have her in this grand world, to do a remake of Sunset Boulevard. While some might consider that sacrilegious, I've grown out of that view. No film is above being remade, because by this point, they almost all already have been anyway – so what's one more, ha ha!
Who else would love to see SUNSET BOULEVARD remade with Glenn in the leading role? If you're anything like me, you wish they would've done in 20 years ago! But, it's probably not too late – if they step on it rather quickly.
So, if anybody in the biz is reading this right now, please – remake that movie, and put her in the lead! You don't have to worry about comparisons to the original too much, because it won't be a straight up remake – it will be a musical adaptation---an old-fashioned musical in the same vein as HELLO DOLLY made for the big screen. We've had musicals, but they've been modern musicals, or jukebox musicals. We haven't had one of those glorious, grand old time musicals, like SUNSET BOULEVARD would be made for the big screen in a long time.
So, please, somebody make this happen!
