I miss Mel Brooks movies!

None since 1995...
I'd love to see him spoof the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Too bad he's too old now!

I'd like to see him do something. History of the World Part II? I know that was just a joke at the end of History of the World Part I, but it was funny. I just don't know if he could get away with his comedy style these days as he could back then. Too many people compain about the littlest jokes. Imagine if Blazing Saddles came out now? You'd ever every ethnic civil rights group up in arms...But they movie is still one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Come on Mel, one more time please.

I miss his movies also, even though I haven't seen them all. Dracula: Dead & Loving It and Life Stinks are what I first saw growing up in the 90s. xD

The problem was he couldn't get funding for other projects he wanted to do, like SNAFU and Backwards to Forward. This had to do with his films not doing as well as the earlier ones.

He's way too old to direct another movie.

You're never too old to direct a film. I think he ceased to make more though due to funding or maybe if they'll be successful or not today. His unique comedy form probably won't be appreciated enough today and he probably sees that.

His last few films were below par and he could not get funding as he was seen to
have passed it.

Its that man again!!

Woody Allen's still going. Jean Luc Godard's still going (over 50 years of great films).

Shuji Terayama forever.

reply

Yes, that was why. He did have other ideas, but because studio heads wouldn't give him financial backing since his later films didn't make as much money, he couldn't get them made.
