Never got him. Playing it for laughs is not laughable

If you act like it's funny,it's no longer funny.
And if silliness is the thing, then anybody can do what he does; the possibilites are endless then. Comedy is a rare quality, and not so casually executed.

As you said yourself, you never got him. YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN remains on more people's Top 10 lists than you're probably even capable of counting.

Young Frankenstein is in my top 5. Absolutely LOVE the movie. And I was lucky to have seen the Broadway show of it back in February.

Yep, anybody can do what he does. That's why everybody has a successful film career.

Yes,I'm sure you feel the same about Adam Sandler, and similar types.
The elbow-in-the rib humor is self-conscious,and just not funny to me. It's like having a cue-card telling you to laugh while watching a tv show being filmed

reply

Fine if their type of humor is not funny to you. But to say that "anyone can do it" is ridiculous. If anyone could do the same thing and become a hugely successful movie star, anyone would. Why wouldn't you since it's so easy?

Let's break into 2:
It's easy to become a hugely successful movie star when you write and direct your own films.
I have no interest in being an actor or movie star. Not everyone is a wannabe movie star/writer/director.

I suppose not everyone can do it; an I.Q. above 80 would be a requirement.

Haha, think again. You should speak at seminars for all the struggling filmmakers out there. Or you have no interest in easily making money that way either? I'm a stand-up comedian and I work in the film industry and absolutely nothing comes easy in the entertainment business.

Also, you brought Adam Sandler into this and he has never directed a film.
