AFI Honor

I understand that the American Film Institute is going to give Mel Brooks their annual Lifetime Achievement Award this year. I feel this award is well deserved (and really overdue). I acknowledge that comedy can be very subjective, but I believe that when Mr. Brooks was at his peak nobody in the history of American Cinema was funnier. I am really not surprised that the AFI would do this. I have always felt that it was an unpretentious organization. Its annual specials of various movie lists(I think they pretty much ran out of topics so they don't show them any more)were always very enjoyable and the movies, actors and characters chosen for the lists were all very mainstream and relatable for the average moviegoer. I appreciate their recognition of a very talented and funny movie maker and look forward to watching the special.
