Hey folks,
I saw "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken" several week ago and never realized the beautiful Sonora Webster character was played by the same person who plays Fiona in "Burn Notice." Just a few days ago, while checking out "Burn Notice" on IMDb, I checked out the gal who plays Fiona, and I found a whole bunch of nasty threads about Gabrielle Anwar having once been beautiful but now being something far less.
Well, like I mentioned in my earlier post, I have been watching "Burn Notice" for a few years now, and I have always thought the Fiona character was very good looking, and as I said, I would call her a "babe." The name Gabrielle Anwar meant nothing to me - I did not remember ever seeing her in anything other than "Burn Notice." When reading all of the posts on the negative threads, however, I saw she was in "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken," and I remembered that I had seen it a few weeks ago. Several folks posting in the negative threads commented that she looked so pretty in that film compared to how bad she looks now.
Considering those comments, I set the DVR to record "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken" again, and I just finished watching it for the second time. I now have some idea of why some folks made mention of the change in her looks from "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken" to what she is today.
I have to admit that when I started watching the film today, I had some trouble recognizing Gabrielle Anwar as the same person who plays Fiona today. As the film progressed, however, I saw many of the same looks, smiles, and other characteristics that I see in the Fiona character today. The difference is really very simple to understand. When "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken" was made, she was a young 20 year old girl just out of puberty, and she certainly was a very pretty young girl. This is now 21 years later, and Gabrielle Anwar is now a beautiful young woman 41 years of age.
Of course she is going to look different than she did when the film was made in 1991. We all get older, and we all get older looking in the process. Some of us do age better than others, but for those who would suggest Gabrielle Anwar has not aged well in the past 20 years, I would suggest getting their eyes examined.
When I first met my wife, she was about 21 years of age, and we married when she was 25. I thought she was the prettiest gal around. I never seemed to see either of us change from one day to the next, but as each 10 year anniversary came around, I could look at our older pictures and know we were getting older. In spite of that, I continued to find my wife the prettiest gal around. After almost 50 years now, I know time has beat us a bit, but I still think my wife is the prettiest girl around. As for Gabrielle Anwar's beauty at age 41, I still maintain she is a "babe."
Best wishes,
Dave Wile
