How did she get her hair in those waves for Bye Bye Birdie?
I love her hair in that movie.
I WANT IT.
How'd she do that? With huge rollers?

shareActually, she never had to do anything. As in any movie, there was a coterie of hairdressers on the set to make sure that her hair looked good.
shareA serious answer from the ladies: I saw "Bye Bye Birdie" yesterday and puzzled over her hair (real I might add). It looks like she has very fine-textured and somewhat wavy hair which was cut in a very unusual layered way for this film. Kind of ahead of its time. It must have given Columbia Studios' hairdressers fits as there were not the sheer amount of stuff available for the ladies to get the hair to stay in place.
If one takes a look at her autobiography, "Ann-Margret: My Story" (G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1994) - which I recommend - there are a gallery of photos of A-M, sometimes wearing (I suspect) very good wigs, or hair extensions, or her own. Unfortunately as I remember it she does not really write about items dealing with the glamorizing process other than mention working with Bob Mackie. Many performers do not - I suspect that it is perceived as being part of the job of being an entertainer.
I saw A-M in concert a while back and she is a marvelous - and energetic - entertainer. If you have a chance to see Ann-Margret do a concert, GO.
