Mad Magazine June 2008

The latest Mad issue contains "The Top Secret Indiana Jones Memo from George Lucas to Steven Spielberg" (written by David Shayne).

Here's What "George Lucas" has to say about Karen Allen:

Good news: Karen Allen says she's got room in her busy schedule to reprise the role of Marion Ravenwood from Raiders... assuming she can get another waitress to cover her shifts at Ruby Tuesday.

reply

Meh, what do you expect... she hasn't been in any major motion pictures for like the last two decades.

I'm so old school, they tore the school down!

reply

Now that's just mean. Just because she eschewed acting to focus on weaving is no reason to be cruel to her. She's talented and lovely, period.

reply

That's funny, its nothing personal to her, it just reflect her acting career in the past 10 years or so. We all know she has done really well through her knitting and yoga companies as well as teaching. I can fully understand why she left Hollywood to live out in green New England and do such a relaxing and satisfying job that has been one of her biggest passions and she had a son to raise... Karen deserves alot of respect.

reply

Yeah, and getting all this attention again in a big budget movie is a huge score for her.

reply

she doesn't deserve that. just coz shes not in every other movie.

Djaq:Now Im saving you
Alan:but were men and youre a woman
Djaq:Irritating, isnt it?

reply

It's Mad Magazine, you don't expect them to be nice.

And of course, the "logic" in the joke is that from "Major, in-demand movie star who's constantly appearing in one successful blockbuster after another" to "waitress at Ruby Tuesday" there's absolutly nothing whatsoever in between.

reply

yah but its not mad magazine that said that. it's uncalled for no matter where it comes from.
