The high expectations were off the charts for this film

On one hand, I believe that critics nowadays are idiots. They always were but are now even more pretentious. I feel like a lot of highly rated classic films would not receive critical acclaim today. On the other hand, the fans and industry over praised Affleck's directing to the point where he became overrated and expectations were off the charts. I have no doubt that Ben Affleck is a great director, but he's no Mel Gibson. At least not for now. I also feel that Affleck's direction works better with smaller films, rather than large scale films. It could be inexperience and he may learn out of this film what to do next. Every film is a lesson for a director. It took Mel years of acting in big films to produce films like Braveheart, The Passion, Apocaylpto and Hacksaw Ridge. I think that Affleck learned what no to do with Batman from Zach Snyder and will deliver with the Batman.

Dude, what?

Very simple. Mel Gibson is the golden standard of actors turned directors, with films that have been praised by critics, fellow filmmakers and audiences. Ben Affleck is great, but he's not at the level of Mel.

Clint is overrated and is hit and miss. Productivity does not translate to quality. J Edgar, Jersey Boys, American Sniper are just a handful of the garbage Clint has been producing for years. It's either some confused drama, or propaganda.
