Director Marco Bellocchio to direct the 'Edgardo Mortara' movie he wanted to direct since years
The project is actually a different one,but from what Variety says,it seems it will be better documented and with more material overall,and more faithful to the real story:

So what will Spielberg do at this point? Will he do his version of the movie anyway? Or he will just move on the other projects he currently has in his hands (Ulysses S. Grant with Di Caprio,and DC's Blackhawk)? We'll see.
