He had his buddy George Lucas supervise the movie's postproduction while he filmed "Schindler's List".

Spielberg has a good record of making two movies a year, usually one is effects-driven and the other more grounded... "War of the Worlds"/"Munich", "The Adventures of Tintin"/"War Horse","Catch Me if You Can"/"Minority Report", "The Lost World"/"Amistad", etc.

Schindler's list and Jurrasic park both the movies have vast plot. Directors like Quentin Tarantino make 1 movie in so many years.

He didn't make the whole film by himself. Both films had large teams of very talented people working on them. A director's involvement and time requirements can vary wildly across a wide variety of films, both in scale and ultimate quality. I guess the short answer is, he works harder than you do.

Jurassic Park's principal photography took place in 1992, and most of the rough editing. In 1993 Spielberg would only follow up the post production from satellite while on Schindler's List location, and George Lucas would assist coordinating post production tasks. He shot Schindler's List and quickly edited in 1993, in time for a late 1993 release.

He pulled the same thing with Bridge of Spies and BFG, short period between both releases, it only seems longer because the year changed in between both movies.
