Was Spacey ever convicted of being a pedophile?
shareConvicted for what? The original accusation from Anthony Rapp was that Spacey hit on him during a drunken cast party when he was 14. But nothing actually happened between them and there's no indication that Spacey knew hold old he was. That may be creepy but not illegal. Since then there's been like 10 or so additional accusations, the majority of which consist of young men (mostly above the legal age of consent) also claiming that he hit on them. Hitting on people isn't illegal. I know we live in this Orwellian era where almost any behavior is considered sexual harassment or abuse, but in legal terms, there's no wrongdoing there. There was 1 accusation from a male teenager's mother that Spacey had raped him at some point in the past. The problem here is that the "victim" had been shrouded in anonymity. And he continues to remain anonymous. You can't pursue a criminal case in this instance since (maybe a civil one where the details are sealed) because, in the criminal justice system, you have the right to confront your accuser.
The only place he's been convicted is in the court of public opinion. Which may or may not be just. It's hard to tell. From the evidence, all I can conclude is that Spacey has a sexual proclivity for men who are younger than him. I think to call him a pedophile is pushing it based on that evidence. As I said, most of the additional meetooer's who called him out were young (but legal) guys.

There were 15 accusers. 7 of them were anonymous.
Of the 8 who shared their identity, Rapp was the only one underage (14). And he claimed there was a sexual advance but nothing actually happened.
Of the 7 anonymous accusers, only one was underage. Also 14. He claimed they had a relationship when Spacey was 24 and at the end, Spacey tried to rape him.
If you read the article, you can see the rest were normal ages. And the behavior included watching porn with a 16-year-old, despite nothing happening, exposing himself to a 19-year-old, but nothing additional happening and soliciting sex from a 35-year-old, which was not reciprocated. 13 of the 15 were not children. There's no criminal intent there. There's also plenty of reason to be skeptical of the most damning claim from the anonymous guy or really any of them. There are people who exist to be nothing more than fame seeking whores. Or it could be as simple as sour grapes. In any case, from the evidence...or to be more accurate, the allegations, a reasonable person would conclude that Spacey is likely just a hyper-aggressive nymphomaniac. Perhaps a borderline pervert. But hardly a pedophile based on the age range of the accusers.
I wasn't aware of the accusations, but Spacey is definitely not a pedophile. Being a pedophile means that you are attracted to children who are not yet in puberty. He's definitely a pervert, though.
