Overrated?
YES! His last good movie was taxi driver
shareMost of his movies are about Assholes anyways. Im not a big fan of assholes. Maybe you guys are. Frankly other Hugo, Shutter island, Gangs of New York. I could care less about most of his movies. If want watch "Cinema" as Scorsese defines it. ill watch Alfred Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick or even Steven Spielberg more serious films..

Obviously, you just want some attention by making so click-bait treads but I going to respond because a few people seriously think the same way and that is just ignorance you can dislike him as a director find his movies boring, or whatever but that doesn't mean you cant deny his talent and genius, for example, Casablanca is not precisely my cup of tea but I'm very aware of how influential this movie his and the genius of his screenplay.
You can dislike something or someone and still be conscious of his talent
Scorsese is one of the greatest filmmakers that ever existed a really good bunch of his movies can be easily on anyone's list of the best movies of all time Goodfellas, Casino, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Departed, King of comedy, Mean streets, The Wolf of Wall Street, Cape fear, just for mention his most popular movies
The guy has like a hundred years old and still working and creating and evolving trying new technologies working on different genres, gangster, historic dramas, fantasy, romance, sport, from raging bull to Hugo to the Irishman, without mention his documentaries and his vast knowledge about cinema the men is like a library about cinema history.
What in God's name is thinking people who say this man is overrated?

Middle of the road! Some great pics, some not so great!
shareYeah.
Some great movies in his filmography, so he's worthy of going down in the history books as a great director but I find a lot of his work to be boring. He's very hit and miss for me.
Movies of his I don't care for;
Mean Streets, Cape Fear, Casino, Bringing Out the Dead, The Wolf of Wall Street.
Middling;
The Departed, Shutter Island.
Movies of his I like;
Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The King of Comedy, After Hours, Goodfellas.
Big time overrated.
shareHe kind of is overrated by certain people these days, yes. There's a 'film bro' (I believe that's the vernacular) group on social media that have elevated him to the level of deity. Since he made his comments about MCU films being more like theme park rides than what he considers to be cinema, a bunch of people have sided with him as though he's the last grown-up left in the building.
Also, I think it's been easy for them to do this because he's one of the first -- and perhaps one of the only -- grown-up film directors they stumbled across when they saw Taxi Driver or Goodfellas at around the age of 13.
He seems to have become the grandfather of American cinema and the fount of all knowledge for a certain demographic. In that sense, he is indeed overrated.
