Better than Stallone, Seagal, Dolph, and JCVD.
Who's with me?
shareArnold collaborated with more talented filmmakers than Stallone... that's why I believe he was more successful, Cameron, McTiernan, Verhoeven, Reitman... all of these filmmakers were at their prime when they worked with Arnold.
Who has Stallone worked with? Renny Harlin? lol
A rookie James Mangold on a very small film with basically no action... a past his prime Dick Donner?
The best directors I could come up with Stallone are: Robert Rodriguez, Richard Donner, John Landis, James Mangold and Walter Hill. Stallone had an advantage of writing a lot of his own stuff.
shareOh c'mon, John G. Avildsen! Let us also remember that between the two, it's Stallone with the Oscar win. Like I said previously, it's a toss-up on my personal tastes, I like them both equally, but if we are going to compare pedigrees, you have to give it to Stallone at that point.
Also for Stallone, Norman Jewison (In The Heat of the Night), John Huston, George Cosmatos. These aren't nobodies.
Which John Huston film?
shareWell, concerning Stallone he directed Victory! with Michael Caine. But he was kind of legendary in Hollywood with an incredible career. The Maltese Falcon, Moby Dick, The African Queen.
shareI'm familiar with John Huston. I've seen "The Dead" a few times. I didn't know he did "Victory!" and didn't even know Stallone was in it.
shareStallone had a habit of hiring directors as front men while he directed, just ask Danny Cannon
sharehe's the ultimate movie star
shareI like Arnold...But Stallone is the greatest (with Seagal not far behind)
shareStallone yes/no...the rest are garbage.
At some point in their career they were each collectively the biggest box office star in the US and the World.
None of the others even came close.
They all enjoyed peaks and valley's but Stallone and Schwarzenegger once ruled the world.
Neither of them probably deserved that...but then hey, where are all the movie stars now?
100%. his highs just seem so much higher than Stallone his main competitor but I couldn't blame Rambo and rocky fans for thinking Stallones better.
shareI even prefer Arnie's crappy ones over Stallone's.
shareI agree. I just mean when you think of "arnold greats" only terminator 1 and 2 and predator come to mind. I wouldn't really count schlocky 80s and 90s action films in that. When Stallone comes to mind he has his fair share of crap too I just thought he had more quality top films. but going through his filmography I was wrong. its pretty much first blood and rocky. the rest are all like 70% and below. thought rocky 4 was semi respected but I was wrong

I’d say Rambo.
shareIt's sad that Sam Peckinpah died before he got to work with any of these men.
