Her chances weren't very high to begin with, but it would have been nice to see her win a 2nd golden globe. Her performance in Stranger Things was astounding, hopefully the SAG will have a different outcome.

shareWith 73 total voters, all foreign, the Golden Globes are exceptionally sensitive to sentimentality and bias, especially to foreign entertainers and entertainment. Its not a surprise that in this, her 91st year (she's 90 and apparently in ill health), that British media would vote for a British project about QE, so no big deal. The SAG awards are probably a more important and representative honor, and those are three weeks away. And more importantly, pitchers and catchers are reporting in five weeks, so there's that.

shareI don't think the Queen is going to die soon (like this year or next year), I think she's just reached the point where she's going to start getting frail and susceptible to illnesses.
shareShe gets the best medical care in the world and has been historically active and engaged, not showing any signs of the mental decline that signals serious physical illness, so you're probably right. Besides, she probably doesn't want Philip to outlive her.

Point in favor is the Foreign press, so technically are critics, or at least know how to distinguish a bad movie/performance from a good one.
Against the GG are less than 100 voters (92 I read, 73 Nicolo Said, ), that love british lavish production as Nicolo said, but the whole thing that are permeable from lobbies (remember Pia Zadora, The Tourist, even the Martian as best commedy) and also love certain stars more than other. Meryl Streep is an excellent actress 30 nominations in 38 years I guess is too much.
The SAG awards represent all the actors, over 5.ooo votes, there are sentimental too and usually a star won these awards.
It's an award show between their peers.
the whole point is that are too many voters and most are uneployed. Probably Donald Trump and Kim Kardashain are SAG member. I thinkd sometimes they haven't seen the performance and only vote for their names and buzz. That's the main adventage that Winona has in the SAG Awards. Itsn't a hostile territory like the Globes, and one day she will win one, and probably more than 1, maybe not this year, but one day she will win many of these.-
