I'm actually a little ashamed to admit that I'm a Molly Ringwald fan, because she seems to be the subject of a lot of vitriol and backlash. It's sad, really. I don't think she's that bad of an actress, but in the eyes of Hollywood and mainstream audiences, she's an uninsurable pariah. She's tried to reinvent herself as moms or maternal figures (like an eccentric French Canadian teacher in Wishin and Hopin'), but for some reason, she's hardly getting any employment due to being considered poison.

Like Lindsay Lohan she turned down good roles, was difficult to work with and then lost her looks. Ginger women do not fair too well in Hollywood.

**edit** with the exception of Julianne Moore and Maybe Bryce Dallas Howard (but she does have a rumored b**** streak).

Funny Molly Ringwald was on a show called Townies that was based in my hometown. The show failed and after it ended after half a season the supporting cast of Jenna Elfman, Lauren Graham, and Ron Livingston would go on to other projects while Molly Ringwald's career largely stalled.

Except that Molly was right about the idiotic script of "The Breakfast Club." Bender was shockingly abusive with his words and never apologizes. And yet we're to believe that Claire (Molly) wants him as a beau at the end? Why Sure!

Molly's of my generation and I grew up with all the hype over her movies after Sixteen Candles cemented her cult status with plain jane girls across America, but I never cared for her acting abilities nor the subject matter of her movies under John Hughes' direction. I also thought John Hughes was a tad full of himself and what he thought was a reflection of America in his movies, but in reality his films reflected a narrow-minded viewpoint of sheltered midwestern upper class youth.
