Gugu on Free State of Jones shoot

Gugu's starring in a new play about Nell Gwyn at the Globe in London. There's a long interview with her in the Daily Telegraph and she mentions the Free State of Jones shoot. Sounds horrible, running around the swamps in a corset and a hoop skirt with critters crawling all over the place.

She has a supporting role in soon-to-be-released legal drama The Whole Truth, which stars Keanu Reeves and Renée Zellweger, and she has also recently returned from a gruelling shoot in New Orleans with Matthew McConaughey, which she describes as “70 days shooting in swamps in a corset” for The Free State of Jones, which tells the true story of anti-slavery Confederate deserters in Jones County, Mississippi during the American Civil War. McConaughey, she says, was formidably focused and in character most of the time.


Sounds like MM's definitely method.

There was also a bit on the news about MM and Naomi Watts exchanging emailed love letters and poems to prepare for Sea of Trees. Daniel Day Lewis has got nothing on them!
