shareI don't agree with that at all. Madonna didn't have sex appeal, she was raunchy, and at a time when raunchy was just on the cups of being accepted. She was in the right place at the right time, and apparently slept with the right people. That her songs are classics says little about her talent. Plenty of classic songs are garbage. Hers aren't that bad, and I'm only pointing that out to say that being a classic does not imply something has merit.
In any event, if I were ranking by vocal ability or by sex appeal, both lists would go Ariana, Taylor, Madonna in that order. If I were ranking by savvy ability to parlay mediocre talent into global stardom, Madonna is head and shoulders above the rest.
Singers? Sure. But not as artists.
