The longevity, the No.1’s, She writes her own music, passionate songs, dances, sings, is an innovator, is hot!, for a singer to be in the industry that long is hard, the fact that she is a female is impossible, never accused of inappropriate behaviour, is solo, simply the best of all-time!
She has done very well for herself and I have enjoyed many of her songs and albums. I do think her creative peak came somewhere around the Ray of Light album. That's not to say I dismiss what she's done since, it just hasn't had the wow factor for me.
I totally respect Madonna for all she's achieved and for writing and performing some of the best pop songs of all time, and I really love that you are passionate about her bbw666, it makes me happy to read something so positive. Good for you and Go Madonna!
Well I think your over extending her position. If she continues to go old school she will be labelled dated and her albums wont sell as much. “ She never evolved”. “Same old Madonna”. Since she is a global fashion icon she has to go with current threads. I think her latest albums have a good blend of Madonna, past, and present. With her songs still being better than moderns. The fact that she produces, writes, and directs her career is enough to show she is still on top. I of course think her actual peak was before Ray of Light but that doesnt mean her other eras werent that much better than everyone else.
Over extending her position? Well for a start I wouldn’t call her “the best artist of all time”, in fact she wouldn’t even make my top 10.
So no, while I respect her, I am not blind to her limitations. The thing that particularly gets to me about her recent releases is her reliance on vocoder/auto-tune. Madonna has never been a vocal powerhouse, but a big part of her charm was how she pushed her thin vocals to their absolute limit and sung the hell out of songs like Papa Don’t Preach, Live to Tell, Like a Prayer etc. Now she sounds like a robot in most songs, the auto tune does nothing to improve her vocals, it actually makes them sound a whole lot weaker.
Anyway, I didn’t intend to trash Madonna. I was merely congratulating you on a positive post, but you seem to have missed that part. All good though.
I never said the best singing voice. Surely you can find some locals with better voice talent especially at this age where you seem to criticise her musical techniques. There’s plenty of better sounding voices out of a job or mediocre careers. Madonna has made the no.1 spot her spot in the billboards.
Well it certainly sounds like it. Maybe you should post more posts on her qualities.
"I totally respect Madonna for all she's achieved and for writing and performing some of the best pop songs of all time, and I really love that you are passionate about her bbw666, it makes me happy to read something so positive. Good for you and Go Madonna!"
compare it to this response from another person further down the page which you did not say anything about at all
"I wouldn't have stuck your dick in that thing, even in the 1980's, much less mine - how the fuck that whore is still walking is a testimony to how far zombie medical science has advanced."
And you're on my back about not being nice to Madonna? Some perspective wouldn't go astray.
Well Im not really responding to your original reply am I?
Why would I compare?
This isnt a difference chart thread. This is about Madonna and sorry I didnt reply. Sometimes I’m a late replier as you can see and I didnt even see that message which was deleted. Sometimes people dont respond to me but to someone else and I tend not to read their discussions as to respect their privacy.
I didnt say you werent nice but was merely pointing out that on that post you seemed to be over critical of her.
Cyndi has THAT voice - probably one of the greatest female voices of all time - but Madonna has the hits and the trend-spotting ability. Makes both about equal in my eyes.
What is amazing is that for most of the 80's and 90's her singles were nearly all top ten hits. Hardly any flops and very few not making the top ten in the UK and US.
She was a trailblazer and lead the way for female pop acts that followed which very much continues to this day, back in the 80's the music charts were dominated by mostly male groups or male solo artists.
Many of her songs and videos were also ground-breaking and talking points for the time, today her videos may seem tame but then Madonna used her sexuality to the max to sell records, something male performers had been doing since the days of Elvis!
She certainly is the Queen of Pop, no one else comes close, although when it comes to her movies they are mostly forgettable.
Yep, I remember back in the 80's after Desperately Seeking Susan the movie critics pounced on her for following movies every time. Many of which I haven’t even seen but have soundtracks of! :)
I long gave up on critics after seeing who they are and what films they like to award.
They’re bought off and cant seem to understand that some movies are meant to be bad but they’re liked that way.
She’s have been in few films and some are very popular despite criticism. Just like her music.
She is a wooden actress and even when she's talking normally she does the "Clinton" of sounding like she's trying to say "the right thing" because she isn't real.
I went to see her movies and she was always bad in them. Typically, the were trying to be romantic. I don't think she's a romantic person but rather a crude "whore" type who has a cig hanging from her lip as she thinks about money and manipulation.
She should have played those parts, action movies, crime films, etc.
Having said THAT, I think she was pretty good in Desperately Seeking Susan and cute to watch in Who's That Girl. She did fine as Breathless Mahoney in Dick Tracey and was decent in A League of Their Own.
Everything else I've seen her in she was excruciatingly bad. Just uncomfortable to watch.
According to OP, you two only think her movies suck because you are jealous. Is she a bad actress? Nope, you're just jealous. I never thought I was jealous of anything but now I understand that there are a lot of actors out there that I am jealous of. For instance, I am maximum jealous of Kevin Costner in Robin Hood.
I've actually been a big fan of her as a performer and always thought she was smoking hot in the 80's and 90's especially.
I just don't think she's a good actress. She has some decent/passable work in the films I mentioned but find it painful to watch her work outside of those handful of films.
I repeat..I've always found her to be very attractive physically so there is no jealousy whatsoever on my part.
I was speaking of media critics. I find most fans like her, no matter how bad she is. Given that it’s not her career it’s hard to be an academy winner like Lady Gaga. Im sure if she focused on it she could vastly improve.
You have to understand when you’re a billion dollar icon. You have to watch what you say or do because any misstep can end it all. She is probably taught to be as politically correct as possible. Especially given that she is so controversial and in the past she used to be so naughty.
You know it’s extremely hard to make a No.1 let alone several and stay on top. You oughta try it.
She does write her own music, she always has. I think there are only a few songs, Like a Virgin being the most successful, where she didn’t have a co writing credit.
She writes more than 90% of her work. In co-writing she usually gives an idea or direction.
She used to be a dancer first( a great one) so obviously she dances and choreographs her performances. She has a huge say her music videos. She was the one who had the idea of her merchandise and constantly promotes it. Her tours are huge even at her age. If you see MDNA tour I’m sure you’d be surprised. She also does acting.
You can watch numerous videos of her EPKS and album with collaborators, producers and partners in the studio where she brings journals of lyrics, song ideas, melodies and they craft them together. She has her fair share of songs written completely but others but she contributes a large part of her output with others.
So no, it is talked about plenty when she's spoken about the albums, concepts and how it came to be. Orbit, Pettibone, Rogers, Bray, Leonard, Timberlake, Babyface, Mirwais have all spoken about her and how she creates.
Perhaps dive into Madonna's history and see how songs came to be and how she created them along with others.
