Dolph's Best Film?

Frankly I've never rated Doplh all that highly... I have nothing against him personally - OK, so he can't act, but he's a badass and that's a fact - it's just his films always seem to be cheap, crappy knock-offs of much better action films by the likes of Schwarzenegger.

However, since The Expendables (which in itself had quite a few faults) I've decided to try and track down the best films made by the big stars involved. Anyone care to list a few of Lundgren's best films? The only one I ever really remember seeing is Universal Soldier... What other decent action films has he been in?

To name only a few:
MEN OF WAR (John Sayles-scripted mercenary flick)

THE MECHANIK (Dolph's sophomore directorial effort)

SILENT TRIGGER (experiemental art-house action flick directed by Russell "Highlander/Razorback" Mulcahy)

COMMAND PERFORMANCE (Dolph's self-directed version of DIE-HARD at a rock concert, not all perfect but a good effort and production value)

THE DEFENDER (Dolph's directorial debut)

Thanks. Men Of War sounds interesting. I'll try and pick it up.

I'm also intrigued by Command Performance, although I usually hate these Eastern-European direct-to-DVD action films everyone seems to be making today. Almost invariably they seem to suck, and they always look cheap as hell. But some of the reviews I've read say that that isn't so much the case with this film, so I might look into it.

Dude, make sure you check out Red Scorpion, Army of One, Men of War, Silent Trigger and The Russian Specialist. Sweepers is pretty sweet too.

Thanks for the heads up. I've seen Men Of War now, and it was exactly what I was looking for :) (In fact, I've already gone and bought it on DVD...) Reminded me of Commando in a lot of ways. Didn't find it as boring as a lot of people have claimed either, and the big showdown was epic.

I also caught Command Performance. Sadly can't say I was that impressed. I'll give it another watch if I get the chance, but it just reeked of direct-to-DVD budget film, with half the explosions and gunfire done in GCI because they couldn't afford the real deal. Each to their own, but I didn't like it.

I'll check out a few more of your suggestions. If any of them are like Men Of War then I should enjoy them.

If you're looking for stuff blowing up stick to Red Scorpion, Army of One, and Sweepers.

Personally I like all of his stuff from the 80's and 90's (with the exception of a couple). If you're interested in buddy flicks like Lethal Weapon give Showdown in Little Tokyo a try. Dolph teams up with the late Brandon Lee in this one and they both share an awesome chemistry on set.

Found Red Scorpion (the whole film) on YouTube, I'll probably watch that after work tonight. Showdown In Little Tokyo's on there too, so I'll give that a look some time as well. (Not sure why there are suddenly entire films on there... Maybe because they're old and mostly unknown nobody cares?)

I really wanna see Army Of One, but you can't seem to get it in the UK at all, and I'm not sure I wanna shell out on importing the DVD if I've never even seen the film before... I'll keep looking though.

You can try www.hulu.com as well. They have some Dolph films in there, better quality than youtube too.

No can do, Hulu doesn't work outside of the States!
