Its weird the Japanese want these big film stars to promote japanese stuff with their crazy humour. they not have any stars of their own? I guess Hollywood films and the stars are just as big over there, its been going on since Arnold was advertising strange energy drinks and noodles etc in the 80s/90s when the ads would never be seen outside that country (before utube change all that, not that Arnie probably ever gave a fcuk if anyone else saw them, he must've spent most his time between all his movies doing those commercials lol) and they obviously pick up millions for an afternoons work lol (like BWillis latter day 'movies')
shareIt's funny how some actors say they won't do commercials but it's really we won't do commercials in America. I could see washed up former big stars doing Japanese commercials but some big names have done commercials there.
shareI think it is also about the presence. If you never see this awkward advertisement in your life and you are quite sure also anyone you know, let it pass. Best case it even helps to make you more famous in this country. Furthermore the japanese likely paid quite well and you get best case a free trip to Japan sponsored. Similar nowadays with Arab countries, Beckham gets 150Million British pound for some stupid and awkward spots. And he mostly get away with it.
