shirochan-20516, I really don't have a dog in this fight; I am neither a Sam Jackson fan or hater. I came on this board to look up something that he did several years ago. After reading your post, I just want to iterate that there is good in even the worst of people, and bad in the best...just because Sam donates to all those charities doesn't mean he is any better than anyone else. The average person cannot donate to those charities because they don't make the kind of money that Sam makes. The fact that he has his own opinion about things, supported Hilary for president and uses foul language all the time doesn't mean he is any worse than anyone else. The average person has their own opinion but does not have Sam's platform to spew it; the average person supported Hilary for president and now they have to accept the fact that she did not win; and the average person uses foul language, possibly because they cannot think of anything more intelligent to say at the moment.

With all that said, I really don't have a dog in this fight...I am not a Sam Jackson fan, nor do I particularly dislike him. I thought he was hilarious in "Coming To America", he was convincing in "Jungle Fever" and "Blue Hill Avenue", yet I would have chosen someone else for his part in "Shaft". I cannot concur with your statement that Sam has a "heart of gold" because the things that come out of a person's mouth represent what is in their heart, and all the bad language that he uses couldn't come from a "heart of gold".

I don't think he is a scumbag. He seems like a good guy that has done a lot for people. However it was stupid for him to threaten to leave the country because Trump won just as it was stupid for others to say it when they had no plans of leaving. Also this comment in your post:

This doesn't really fit with the rest. Obviously I don't support anti-Muslim bigotry, but those that needed sympathy after the San Bernardino shooting were not Muslims, but those who were gruesomely murdered by Islamic fanatics. Had he done something for the families of those killed or the people injured, that would have been honorable in that moment, not talking about wishing the killer was white.


Overall I agree with your post, and think he has done some great things.

No disrespect, but you don't know Samuel L Jackson, you have no idea who he is in his personal life, you know what the media lets you know and what blarb gets spewed out on social media and that's it. None of us REALLY know Samuel L Jackson apart from what we see in the news and what he does on screen. So this entire post (which is done for nothing but causing unrest and attention IMO) is a complete waste of time.

The comments from people saying absolute trash like "Samuel is a great man and anyone who says otherwise are scum and idiots" are laughable, for someone to even come out and say something like that about people they have never met and know nothing about just shows how pathetic and broken our society is. And to sleaze all over other people simply because they don't like your favourite pop/film/sports star, is about as low as it gets, which makes thier comments all the more silly.

I personally like Sam Jackson as an actor, I enjoy his films (most of them) but I know very little about the man himself and probably never will do. So my views on him, what he does and who he really is are irrelevant, as are anyone elses.

But attacking other people for disliking him is ridiculous, everyone has and is entitled to thier own opinions. This doesn't make them scum, idiots, low lives or anything else, if anything, throwing around insults at people you've never met is idiotic, scummy and low in itself.

His most recent stupidity is saying how he's a supporter of 0bamacare, because he's got relatives who can't afford health insurance and 0bamacare helps them.

He's worth about $175 million with the ability to make many million more.

If I had relatives who couldn't afford health insurance, I'd take $5 million, put it in a trust and have them submit the bill each month and pay for their insurance. If you figure maybe he has 20 relatives who can't pay for insurance and insurance costs $1,000/month, that is 20 x 12 x $1,000 = $240,000/year.

That trust fund will last 20 years minimum.

Maybe he could start some company for those relatives to work and at give them all of the benefits he enjoys.

Instead, he'd rather them live off of the government rather than take care of them himself.

Or, he just figures people are too stupid to actually think about what he says and will blindly accept that 0bamacare was a good thing.
