Richard Burton or Anthony Hopkins?

Of course, the two of them are but one half of the even more famous Port Talbot Four.

Richard Burton died before turning 60. Hopkins has had 20 years more performances to build his legacy. Up to the same age, I'd give it to Burton though. 7 Academy Award nominations for Best Actor.

Anthony Hopkins is more famous, but Richard Burton is way better actor.

Burton is dead and gone, and soon Hopkins will be as well. All that both of them did is hype, advertised in order to make money. They both sounded like creeps to me.

I've seen far more of Hopkins than Burton, so Hopkins just edges it for me by the smallest margin! Both are great!

But could Burton do a Tommy Cooper impression?

Hopkins is more famous now, thirty-five years after Burton's death. But Burton was bigger in the 1960s than Hopkins is today.

I suspect that if you allow for the different times then Ray Milland is the most famous Welsh actor.
