Actress Anne Heche has been hospitalized in critical condition with burns after crashing her car into a Los Angeles home, Deadline has confirmed. The news was first reported by TMZ.

The crash occurred at 10:55 Am Friday in the Mar Vista area of L.A., according to police.

“The vehicle was heading east on Preston Way at a high rate of speed, entered the T intersection at Preston Way and Walgrove Ave, ran off the road and collided with the residence in the 1700 block of Walgrove,” a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson told Deadline.

“The vehicle became engulfed in flames and the driver was transported to a local hospital by Lafd,” police said. Los Angeles Police Public Information Officer Jeff Lee told CNN that Heche was in critical condition.

The home itself also became engulfed, with flames spreading to the roof.

Burns that appear black and brown are likely 3rd degree and require surgical skin grafts. Based on the appearance of the burns in the video, it seems she’s in for a long hospital admission, many surgeries, and potential career ending disfigurement

I did ask myself when the last time was that I saw Anne Heche in anything. It's been decades, unless she was in something I saw and I just didn't recognize her.

I've seen her in a few things. But she only has either small roles in decent movies or bigger roles in bad movies that nobody watches. I think she's only still working to feed her habit

Thanks for this incredible post. Did you see the video embedded in the article? At 19:40 or so, it shows the firemen bringing her to the ambulance on the gurney completely wrapped head to toe in sheets and then she bursts through the sheets and into a sitting position with obviously blackened burned skin and the fireman are trying to get control of her. The whole crash is crazy but this video of her is even more bizarre

I wonder why they cowered her face. Did they thought she was dead? This is a severe damaged person. It was hard for her to breathe under that sheet. Paramedics could not see her face if she stops breathing.

Did they do that because she is celebrity? I assume she could have passed out. Then woke up and saw herself cowered. Got scared that she might be in a morgue and natural reaction was to sit up and take sheets.

I think your guess is the right one. They knew who she was and they knew the helicopter was overhead filming and they were trying to get her to the ambulance without being recognized. She did seem to get scared at the end.

In the video of her showing her sitting up on the stretcher she still had her top on. I think most of her burns was to the waist and leg area.

The very first of this video.She has a light colored shirt on. They wouldn't have laid her on the stretcher like that if she had burns to her top area.They have her intubated because she breathed in hot air and smoke that can cause lung damage.Hot air will put burns inside your lungs if breathed for a while.

You’re right I see it now. I notice her hair doesn’t look burned either. She may come out of this very lucky with only lower extremity burns like on the feet and ankles

This pic was taken after she crashed into a garage door. She then sped away and crashed into the house, where she was severely burned.

She was drunk out of her mind and thank God she didn't kill anyone, especially a child.

From the video it sounds like something was dragging on the road as she went by. Like she had a flat tire and was driving with the rim on the road.Now is a time for her to sober up.

I did hear that as well. She’s known for serious mental health problems too. I know her brother committed suicide and a picture is starting to emerge that she was attempting the same in this crash

What if her actions had killed someone.

We recently had a motorbike incident near me where 2 riders went off and collided with a railing. They had my sympathy until found out they were doing 60 in a school zone while drunk. Don't care whats happening in your life. There is no excuse.

She could have killed someone. But yeh lets forget all that. With someone like this iof they don't care abnout other peoples lives and well being then why should I care about them.

I'm not the one defending a drunk driver who was speeding, crashed twice, burnt someones house to the point it will be demolished, fled the scene of a crime and could have easily killed someone.

Apparently the house she crashed into and burned to the ground belonged to a cousin of hers, so there's probably some sort of nasty personal drama there. Stay tuned!

Edit: CORRECTION, Heche did not smash into her cousin's house. She smashed into the house of some internet commenter's house.

On the news video (posted above) you can see that part of the roof is gone in 3 places which means the fire engulfed the inside of the house to cause that.

Firefighters cut out areas of the roof to let out smoke and heat while fighting a fire.Though seeing that home they went in to save her first before putting out the fire which made the fire get larger. That house will be torn down and a new one bulit. To much fire damage inside.
