I read "Burnt Toast", kind of her autobiography. I really like the way she wrote and what she said about herself and her life and work, I feel her like a really nice person. Try and take a look at that book, if you wanna know more about her! don't know if you will conclude anything, but at least you're going to enjoy the story!

Teri is very guarded and protective of herself and her daughter which may come across as being mean or bitchy. Can you blame her? You have seen how some fans and the paparazzi are around her and other celebrities. You have to be firm to be able to keep any kind of privacy and to remain sane.
But to friends, family, and those fans who respect her as a person and as an actress she is said to be very kind and friendly with a great sense of humor.

I read 'Burnt Toast' too. She seems like a geniunly nice person and to be honest i think i would get fed up with fans coming up to me all day when i have chores to do or you need to be somewhere! I really like her and believe that she is nice ! Great book btw, you HAVE to read it !

I realize that I am replying to an extremely old post, but I wanted to add my two cents about meeting her.

In 1995, I was a member of a community children's choir, and we got to take a trip to New York City. Well, to a 10 year old girl from west TN, that's a huge deal. One of the things on our itinerary was going to see The Heiress, starring Cherry Jones. Since Ms. Jones is from my hometown, my choir director was able to arrange for us to go backstage to meet her after the play. Ms. Hatcher was back there waiting for her husband, who also starred in the production. We all recognized her, because we all watched Lois and Clark. Of course, we had no idea she would be back there, so there were a lot of "That's Lois Lane!" "No it's not!" etc. whispers. I remember her telling us that her husband had been in the play, and that she was waiting to take him out to dinner.

At first, she didn't want to sign any autographs or anything, but I don't think she was being mean or rude at all. I think she was completely surprised that a group of kids were even there, and that we recognized her. She did look very different (not in a bad way). She struck me as shy/private. I also think she was worried that she wouldn't have time to sign one for everyone if she started. Our parents/chaperones told us to leave her alone and not bother her, but then she started talking to us a little bit and signing autographs and letting us take pictures. I still have the pictures my mom took of her signing an autograph for me somewhere. So, based on that experience, I tend to think of her as a nice person.

As cool as it was to meet the leading lady of my [then] favorite show, I hate that it kind of overshadowed our meeting with Cherry Jones. Ms. Jones was so sweet. She hugged every one of us, and told me to give my dad a big hug for her (they went to high school together).

Regardless, it's an awesome memory!
