Hacksaw Ridge is best Film

it is

Hacksaw Ridge is great, but I think Braveheart is his best film and Passion of the Christ his second best and then Hacksaw Ridge.

I thought it was hammy and boring.

My Dad was begging me to watch it for years. He's a fan of Gibson's work, as am I, and said I just had to see it. I didn't think it looked particularly good, so avoided it. My Dad actually got annoyed at me, LOL. I finally watched it and just thought it was melodramatic, kinda boring, and had shitty effects.

yeah, i saw the trailer & was kinda scratching my head that Mel had directed it,
i never thought he would direct a hammy movie so rooted in sappy sentimentality & such broad crowd-pleasing nonsense

It was a weird decision to have a Will Smith rap over the end credits, but it really tied the whole thing together.

Not a high bar, mind...

I wouldn't call it the best by a long shot, but I think my favourite is Bird on a Wire.

Hacksaw Ridge is a movie about a true American hero, well directed and acted but I feel the start of the film is a bit plodding, my choice for best Mel Gibson film would be Braveheart, for its rewatchability. Hacksaw Ridge on the other hand, I'd skip the parts in the USA when rewatching it.

i definitely bought it for the final hour. braveheart is great and i love apacalypto as well.

Three great films! A Crime that he didn’t direct for ten years.
